Garage – Car Link Mall Sat, 28 Aug 2021 15:39:12 +0000 en-US hourly 1 Garage – Car Link Mall 32 32 GENERATIONS: Will I be doing another garage sale? Sat, 28 Aug 2021 12:50:00 +0000

The little cabin on our property was in urgent need of serious cleaning, and the preparation for a sale served two important purposes. It would help me downsize and organize the contents of the cabin, and it would allow me to clean and rearrange the small building so that it could be used as a guest bedroom.

The cabin has been unavailable to guests for a few years, serving more as a storage shed for items not moved from the old house to the new house 10 years ago. I had bought used shelves to store the books and packed other items but the cubicle was cluttered and in need of a good cleaning.

When my neighbor decided to organize a garage sale, I made a commitment to hold one on the same days. That would give me a deadline for a lot of the sorting and organizing. I separated the cabin and got to work, moving objects away from the walls, sweeping, dusting, scrubbing, disinfecting, throwing and sorting: Garbage? Garage sale item? Don? Take advantage of? And sometimes, “Oh, so that’s where it happened!” ”

It was great tackling the task, sifting through the memories, and shrinking down at the same time. I spent long, hot, sweltering days in the cabin. It was a lot of work – often physical labor – but it was also rewarding. The place started to look like a cabin instead of an episode of Hoarders.

Soon my four tables were filled with items. I needed more space. Then I realized that I am married to a carpenter and we have several pieces of scaffolding. Gary set up a few sections in front of the cab and even took out a few power tools from his store to put them up for sale. In no time, the vertical posts of the scaffolding were filled with hangers for shirts, sweaters, and even a few winter coats, and tools and sporting goods filled the planks.

The day before the garage sale, I organized and evaluated the items until 1:30 am. I had four main prizes: 25 cents, $ 1, or fill a bag for a fixed amount, the fourth prize was the popular “FREE!” I wasn’t going to get rich, but my goal was to find new homes for items that could still be used.

Among the customers were neighbors from the neighborhood whose names I recognized in mailboxes, but people whom I had never officially met. Small chats with strangers led to some commonalities, finding out that we grew up in the same part of the state or that our kids went to school together. People seemed so much friendlier than at previous clearance sales. Perhaps last year’s COVID restrictions contributed to our eagerness to converse and interact.

Most “buyers” spent a few dollars; some did not but still discussed and wished me good luck by thanking them for coming. Some people were happy to find items that matched exactly what they needed. The retired English teacher in me found it rewarding when people sorted through my “library” and picked out the books that interested them.

Several men stopped by throughout the three days – just as eager to “sell” as the women. Gary’s reasonably priced used tools were very popular: an arc welder sold almost immediately; then a hand sander, a bolster and a compressor.

The days were busy and exhausting. People were coming and going, taking things that I had clung to, thinking that someday I could fix up those rocking chairs or sew something with those scraps of fabric or read those unread books. By the end of the third day, I was physically exhausted but happy to see space opening up in the cabin. I had gotten rid of a lot of things, had met some interesting people and had really had fun.

Will I ever have another garage sale? Maybe not, but I won’t say never.

JE Hitt Garage celebrates 75 years by cutting the ribbon | New Wed, 25 Aug 2021 04:30:00 +0000

JE Hitt Garage is celebrating 75 years in business and hosted a ribbon cutting event on Friday August 20 to mark the occasion. The ribbon cutting was organized by the Lewis County Chamber of Commerce. House Speaker Thomas Newbrough also presented Cortney Harris and Christian Hitt with their father’s businessman of the year award.

Tim Hitt was posthumously named Businessman of the Year in 2020. Hitt had owned and operated the JE Hitt Garage since 1992, although the company had been in business since 1946. During the open house of the House, held last year, Kevin Stalnaker said Hitt took customer service seriously because he knew his customers were like family.

“But Hitt’s reputation wasn’t just in auto repair. He was an excellent track racing car driver, tearing up the local racing scene for many years and racing throughout the South and Midwest, competing on the short track auto racing series circuit, ”Stalnaker told the guests, adding that Hitt had been inducted into the Elkins Engine. The Speedway Wall of Legends in 2019.

“… Those who really knew Tim Hitt would call him legend for much more personal reasons.” He was a trusted friend who would help a family member or friend with any project. Tim’s positive effect on Lewis County will last for generations. We’re all better because he was here, ”Stalnaker said.

Newbrough also acknowledged Hitt’s contributions to the Lewis County community during the ribbon cutting.

“We celebrate him for his work in expanding the garage, his work in the community and his role so important in the region. We miss him dearly and hope the family can accept this award on his behalf, ”said Newbrough.

JE Hitt Garage offers everything from bodywork and auto repairs, to auto detailing and towing. Founded by James E Hitt or “Red”, it started out as a salvage yard where you could find used parts for your automobile. Eventually, Red’s son, James E “Jim” Hitt, took over the business and expanded it, with the addition of a machine shop in 1992. Timothy “Tim” Hitt succeeded Jim and made of the company what it is today. It upgraded the body shop to include a state-of-the-art paint booth, high-end alignment shop, and a recently opened full-service automotive retail shop.

“Now spanning four generations, we have two owners, Cortney Harris and David Harris. Cortney worked as a store manager in the past before working as an analyst for the FBI for almost 10 years before returning. David Harris worked for over 15 years as a registered nurse at Mon Health before making the sizeable leap into running a business. We thank them and the entire JE Hitt Garage family for continuing to serve their customers and our community, ”said Newbrough.

Lewis County Commission Chairman Rod Wyman read a proclamation in honor of the local business, and Weston Mayor Kim Harrison-Edwards praised the owners and staff for their continued commitment to their customers and the County of Lewis.

Harris thanked the chamber for hosting the event “at the last minute”.

“We have really big shoes to fill,” she said.

Newbrough concluded the ceremony by also thanking them for all the company has accomplished and contributed over the past 75 years.

We are so grateful to be here today to celebrate with all of you, and we are so grateful for all that JE Hitt Garage LLC has done for its customers, the business community, and our region as a whole. We celebrate this momentous occasion with you and wish you many years of success to come, ”he said.

A barbecue followed the ceremony.

JE Hitt’s Garage and Body Shop is located at 441 US Highway 19 North in Weston. It is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. For more information on services, visit or call 304-269-2123.

Europe Garage Door Market Analysis & Outlook 2021-2026 Report: Sectional, Rolling, Top to Bottom, Side Hinge & Side Slide Mon, 23 Aug 2021 08:50:00 +0000

DUBLIN, August 23, 2021– (COMMERCIAL THREAD)–The “Europe Garage Door Market – Industry Outlook and Forecast 2021-2026” report was added to offer.

The European garage door market is expected to reach USD 2.87 billion by 2026, growing at a CAGR of 3.68%.

Garage doors from all segments have an established market across Europe, driven by demand for new units. The growing demand for energy efficient doors is driving the global trend towards energy conservation. Builders are incorporating high efficiency garage doors into their portfolio, providing consumers with improved thermal efficiency and lower costs.

The government promotes innovative commercial windows and doors to promote high energy consumption and reduce the carbon footprint. Due to expected changes in energy consumption policies by government agencies, the European garage door market is expected to experience increased demand.

Automated and remote-controlled operations are the latest technological advancements that are likely to gain popularity in the door industry. There is also a wide range of research and development investments in the market regarding the disruption of demand and supply of resources. The UK was the largest market for the window and door market in Europe in 2020.

Europe Garage Door Market Segmentation Analysis

The demand for sectional doors is growing rapidly as one of the most popular choices among consumers and will continue to grow during the forecast period. In terms of design options, sectional doors have more room for customization, as they have a wide range of design differences, while rolling doors have a limited design.

In terms of the material used, aluminum doors remain the favorable option in commercial spaces as they are lighter than steel and iron and are also naturally resistant to corrosion and rust and offer good durability and strength. . The demand for wood materials was higher in Western Europe and the Nordic countries.

Geographic analysis

The UK has the largest share of the European garage door market, due to the installation of doors in new construction and renovation activities. In Germany, factors such as low interest rates, a growing immigrant population and job security are supporting construction growth which, in turn, will increase the demand for garage doors in the country. In the emerging regions of Central and Eastern Europe, the rapid development of infrastructure and construction is driving the growth of the garage door market.

Supplier analysis

The garage door market in Europe is highly fragmented with several established manufacturers holding a significant share. Following the regional trend in energy saving, suppliers are integrating high performance doors into their product portfolio. Supplier growth depends on market conditions, technological innovations and industry development.

The main players in the European garage door market are Garador, Hormann, Novoferm, Teckentrup. Vendors must continue to grow through acquisitions as there are many small players active in cities and small regions. Vendors should focus on improving their geographic presence by finding partners in emerging countries.

7 fire departments fight garage fire in Kewaskum town Sun, 22 Aug 2021 13:11:54 +0000
August 22, 2021 – Town of Kewaskum, WI – On August 21, 2021 at 3:30 p.m., the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a call to 911 regarding a reported garage fire at 8210 Kettle View Road in the town of Kewaskum.

WASO Deputies, Kewaskum fire and the Kewaskum Police Department were subsequently dispatched to the scene.

The Washington County Sheriff’s first deputy at the scene located a detached garage approximately 20 feet by 80 feet with smoke and flames visible from the mid section.

The owner was located and confirmed that no one was inside the garage. The Kewaskum fire arrived and was able to contain the spread of the fire further into the building.

Initial investigation reveals that the owner recently finished cutting the grass and put the mower in the garage before returning to the residence to clean up.

Real estate loss management

A Good Samaritan passer-by observed that smoke started to come out of the garage and proceeded to stop and alert the owner who called 911. It is believed that at this time the fire was caused by the lawn mower.

The building is considered a total loss, along with several vehicles and other interior contents. The total loss of property is estimated to be approximately $ 200,000.

The Kewaskum Fire Department was assisted by Boltonville Fire, Allenton Fire, Kohlsville Fire, West Bend Fire, Jackson Fire and Campbellsport Fire.

The Block NZ: How to Style Your Lockdown Garage Sun, 22 Aug 2021 09:02:00 +0000

Many of us look at our homes and think, “We have time. What can we improve during containment? Maybe the garage.

The four teams of The New Zealand Block can help – this week they made their garages and laundry rooms, which are the same room.

Now garages aren’t the most photogenic rooms to show off, nor laundries for that matter, unless you count Tim’s nude. It was one of the most unusual things we’ve found in Dylan and Keegan’s garage – a give and take artwork from the Blue Team, Tim and Arty.

But is it art? This is Tim and Arty's contribution to the Give-and-Take art challenge, a version of which ended up in Dylan and Keegan's garage.

But is it art? This is Tim and Arty’s contribution to the Give-and-Take art challenge, a version of which ended up in Dylan and Keegan’s garage.

But that wasn’t the only unexpected thing in Dylan and Keegan’s garage – they added a huge full-height mirror, so you can watch yourself workout with the gym equipment. This might be more useful for a young child who is practicing dance moves. Maybe they should have added a bar (not this sort).

* The Block NZ: Shock from all points of view as top team is accused of cheating, twice
* What Do Block Homes Really Look Like? We visit
* The Block NZ: Accidents aside, the lobbies tell the whole story of who wins this year

However, it was Tim and Arty’s week after they were disqualified for breaking the rules last week. These guys are on a roll. Their Blockstars circus performance was clearly a winner and a lot of fun. One of their prizes (with $ 5,000) was an elimination card. So, after much deliberation, they finally pulled a team name out of the hat and knocked Dylan and Keegan out of this week’s room reveal. Here is how it went:

Tim and Arty

Tim and Arty's laundry is a nice connection to their kitchen. They get the best points for earning the room reveal.

Tim and Arty’s laundry is a nice connection to their kitchen. They get the best points for earning the room reveal.

Tim and Arty’s laundry garage is very well done, and this time they are not disqualified. They have funny cartoons on the wall, prompting the judges to declare the garage a “fun space”. “It really made me smile when I walked in,” Judge Lauren said.

And we all love the fold-out wood dryer that dates back to another century, and the awesome pegboard panels for hanging tools, rakes, and brooms.

The utility room echoes the design of the kitchen, with similar cabinets and splashbacks, so there is great visual continuity. Keegan’s “Punakaiki rocks” artwork fits well.

Tim and Arty had a fun piece of art and pegboards for the tools in their garage.

The dryer can be lowered and raised as needed.

The dryer can be lowered and raised as needed.

The judges believe they could have provided for an additional fridge-freezer.

All four houses stand the test of time with electric car outlets which is great.

Dylan and Keegan (eliminated)

As we mentioned, the huge mirror with workout space is the biggest thing in the brothers’ garage. Sis Maddy had to leave during the week, but Keegan is back on the tools, albeit a little wobbly with it.

This is Dylan and Keegan's laundry room-garage with a bare Tim's work of give-and-take in the closet.

This is Dylan and Keegan’s laundry room-garage with a bare Tim’s work of give-and-take in the closet.

They add a workbench and hooks for the coats. But their laundry doesn’t have a lot of bench space. However, it has a large closet. Lauren doesn’t think it would work so well for a family. But in fact, it’s all there.

Then she opens the closet and blushes in front of Tim’s nude. Much hilarity ensues.

Ann-Louise thinks the garage is fabulous – she gives it a 9 out of 10. And Chris loves the way the mirror makes the garage bigger. But the judges would like to see more power points and more practical space.

Dylan and Keegan have a small laundry area, but plenty of storage and a practical workbench. There is also a very large mirror and gym equipment.

Connie and Rachel

These two were also disqualified last week for breaking the rules. They want to make a statement, so they order a wonderful mural with a large kererū and kōwhai tree. It has spiritual significance for Connie and will surely be appreciated by new owners.

Connie and Rach commission a beautiful mural for their garage, but the judges see no visual connection to the rest of the house. The hanger is Meg and Dan's art gift to the team.

Connie and Rach commission a beautiful mural for their garage, but the judges see no visual connection to the rest of the house. The hanger is Meg and Dan’s art gift to the team.

But Lauren doesn’t see an obvious connection between the artwork and the rest of the house, and she’s right. This has been a problem for Connie and Rach – the interior of their house is not as visually fluid as the other three houses.

Connie defends herself, however, and says it’s all about nature, and there are a lot of references across the house.

The utility room has a long bench and a stunning tiled splashback. Ann-Louise loves it, and they all love their cleaning closet under the stairs.

The laundry room in Connie and Rach's garage is perfectly adequate. All garages are carpeted.

The laundry room in Connie and Rach’s garage is perfectly adequate. All garages are carpeted.

There is also an issue with their finish, which contributes to a low score.

Meg and Dan

This couple needs good news. It wasn’t the best week for them. They drew the short straw for Blockstars and had to sing. They were petrified. For Meg, it was her worst nightmare, but they did, and they got laughs in all the right places and a standing ovation.

It's Meg and Dan's laundry - there are wooden cabinets at each end.

It’s Meg and Dan’s laundry – there are wooden cabinets at each end.

They spend the most of any team – over $ 15,000. They have an entire wall dedicated to the laundry room, with air dryer, refrigerator and storage cabinet. There are even shelves with storage baskets. Perfect for a family.

The judges think it’s way too good for a car. But, Ann-Louise thinks the color of the countertop is a “disaster”. It’s a cloudy gray, which begs the question “what were they thinking?” I guess it won’t show dirt.

Otherwise very impressive. Ann-Louise admits that it makes life “easy”. Connie and Rach’s Give-and-Take artwork was swept away (a yellow sign saying “Home”), but the judges appreciated the way Meg and Dan used it, on a temporary basis.

Meg and Dan also put pegboard panels to good use. The house sign is the give and take art work of Connie and Rach.

Meg and Dan also put pegboard panels to good use. The house sign is the give and take art work of Connie and Rach.

We were pretty impressed overall. So did the judges, who noted – “look how far the garages have gone”.

There were minus 1s and two cancellation cards to be played, with the end result being that Meg and Dan lost a point. But it turns out they wouldn’t have won anyway.

Next week, it’s the outdoor living spaces. With spring approaching somewhere, now is the perfect time.

True Heroes: Meg and Dan, pictured with Mark Richardson, master the Blockstars in style. They didn't win, but they are very relieved to be done with it.

True Heroes: Meg and Dan, pictured with Mark Richardson, master the Blockstars in style. They didn’t win, but they are very relieved to be done with it.

In summary:

  • Tim and Arty: ($ 14,962.06) 27 (out of 30); Meg and Dan ($ 15,828.58) 25.5; Dylan and Keegan ($ 11,592.57) 24.5 (eliminated); Connie and Rach ($ 9,709.65) 18.5
  • How many of us could do with cleaning our garages while in lockdown? It was inspiring.
  • Who knew there would be so many winter “tans” on The Block this year?

The judges love the gallery-style entry of Tim and Arty from Do-Over Week. But there are some problems ahead for the guys.

Should we rebuild the Celoron Highway garage? | News, Sports, Jobs Wed, 11 Aug 2021 06:32:56 +0000

The loss of the Celoron highway garage creates many questions that village officials will need to answer quickly as winter approaches.

How quickly can the garage be rebuilt? How much existing equipment can be saved? Can the village acquire new equipment in time for the winter if necessary? If the village shares the equipment with neighboring municipalities, can the village work still be completed on time?

These are all important questions, but we would like to add one to the village list: Was this fire an opportunity for Celoron to share a highway building with a neighbor?

Celoron is part of the Township of Ellicott, making the town a potential partner. In terms of proximity, Lakewood makes sense. Either way, we wonder if the cost of rebuilding the Celoron Highway garage makes sense for a small village. The surrounding municipalities have undertaken to come to the aid of Celoron for the loss of its building and its equipment. In our opinion, the debate should not be when the garage is rebuilt, but whether the garage should be rebuilt.

Crossword blog: the many pronunciations of ‘garage’ and ‘airie’ | Crossword Mon, 09 Aug 2021 11:29:00 +0000

In the example clues below, the links direct you to explanations of our beginner series. The smuggler’s name is often linked to an interview with them, in case you want to get to know these people better.

News in clues

A first crossword, I think, from Vlad for one of the phrases that has entered common consciousness over the past 17 months:

8d Sound like a witty comment, “Following sleeping women?” (4,5,6)
[ wordplay: synonym for ‘following’ + anagram of LADIESSLEEP ]

It’s a rare double pun reference to Chris Whitty’s NEXT SLIDE PLEASE. At the Telegraph, until recently, I would have dissected this clue differently:

8a Round fired by each gun in the wood – howl heard, exposing game (5,10)
[ wordplay: synonym for ‘round fired by every gun’ inside (‘in’) synonyms for soundalikes of (‘heard’) a wood and a screech ][ VOLLEY inside soundalikes of BEECH and BAWL ][ definition: exposing game ]

I would have assumed the ferryman – who I take to be the great Allan Scott – used “expose” as a link between the two routes to BEACH VOLLEYBALL, but given the recent lack of rigor in clothing for female athletes, I suspect this is better within the definition.

last motive

If you solve puzzles the American way, you would expect to encounter a certain Great Lake and a certain word for nest at least once a week each. They are less common in UK crossword puzzles, which do not require each square to be part of a cross entry and a down entry: but here they are both in a Pasquale hint in the joke. , the “puzzle for beginners and those in a hurry”:

9a Nests, seen from across one of the Great Lakes (6)
[ wordplay: AS (‘as’), containing (‘seen across’) name of a Great Lake ][ AS containing ERIE ]

The plural, therefore, of AERIE. Or, as it is also written, EYRIE. Or, AERY. And you are spoiled for choice when it comes to pronunciation.

Continuing the question of how he used be pronounced, lexicographers spent days in dead ends. You could look for clues in Samuel Johnson’s perspective:

‘eyry’ in Samuel Johnson’s Dictionary

The problem here is that it’s not clear how to pronounce “uh, an egg ”, especially since“ ey ”is not an egg and the word EYRIE does not come from a word for egg. Dr Johnson seems to have both made this up and forgotten that he had previously given AERIE the name “[aire, Fr]Which is also suspect. Sorry, Samuel: no disrespect.

We are left with this rare bird: a word for which the OED gives three accepted pronunciations, rhyming with “weary”, “nervous” and “suspicious”. It’s fun to visit and click on it in turn if you have nothing better to do. Does anyone know any normal words with four pronunciations accepted?

In the meantime, the topic of our next challenge has three as well. Again, if you get lost you can have fun by combining any of the the first two at Oxford Learner’s Dictionaries with “house” or “rock”, or by trying to popularize a fourth pronunciation: the third version but with the accent on the second syllable. Reader, how about GARAGE?

Confusing elsewhere

The crossword puzzle Emu also does radio. the final series of John Finnemore souvenir program is different from the others in many ways: apart from the lack of an audience, it’s more like a single three-hour family saga told in fragments that your mind reassembles later.

I must have done too many puzzles without a crossword, because I realized that between episodes, the back of my mind was trying to “solve” this – but it’s a very human story, not a mystery with a solution . At least I think it is.

Anyway, reader GappyTooth suggests how rewarding it would be to listen to the uplifting 60th anniversary speech the apparently aphasic Jerry gives in episode six and try to understand what he intended to say, starting with “Easy, ladybug, here we are”. Like everything else in the series, the scene has a different meaning once you hear the other episodes.

Identification challenge

Thank you very much for your hints for BACKSTROKE. The price of daring goes to Croquem for “Going Swimmingly (OK)? and i enjoyed the discussion after the bald “Ekorts” of Nestingmachine.

Incidentally, there was a discussion earlier about a completely different clue. At the start of Ladies’ Month in the weekend newspaper i, the editor asked Chalicea for her favorite clue; it was “Where did the camping gear transported to faraway places?” (3,3,6,5) ”. Now that the Ladies’ Month is over, it has been confirmed that it breaks down as follows …

National Realty Investment Advisors (NRIA) hosted The Grand’s groundbreaking celebration in western New York this week.

The Grand, half of NRIA’s newest residential rental community, will be built on 51st Street. The Grand’s twin tower, The Metro, will be located at 52nd Street and will open at a later date. Each building will offer 156 units and construction is expected to be completed in the summer of 2023.

These two 14-story towers along the Gold Coast of New Jersey will provide West New York with its first parking lot. Parking will be accessible to residents of the development and surrounding city dwellers. Open to the public, 60% of the 495 parking spaces in the towers parking lot are aimed at benefiting the greater community of western New York.

“On the election campaign two years ago, the number one problem was the lack of parking in this town,” West New York Mayor Gabriel Rodriguez said at the inauguration. “We are the most densely populated place in the country, which translates into a lack of parking. We are delighted with what is happening here. It is a perfect example of a public-private partnership working for the well-being of the people who live here.

Richard Stabile, senior vice president of new acquisitions at NRIA, spoke at the groundbreaking event, saying he expected The Grand and The Metro to be an attractive sale for potential tenants, with restaurants, shops and entertainment all within walking distance. Easy access to Manhattan and public transportation are also big selling points.

Residents of the Grand and Metro will have access to amenities including a gym, lounge and a green roof with a pedestrian terrace. There will also be an on-site business center with a high-speed printer and other essentials for working from home. In addition, the roof will be designed as a space for relaxation and entertainment, with patio seating and barbecues.

NRIA is a real estate developer headquartered in Secaucus, New Jersey.

91-year-old man found dead, tied up in New York garage in possible midday robbery – NBC New York Wed, 04 Aug 2021 08:37:41 +0000

New York City police believed they were responding to a robbery attempt on Tuesday, but instead found the body of a 91-year-old man who had been beaten and tied up in his own garage.

The NYPD has identified Nicholas Rappa as the murder victim. Investigators are now looking for the person who used electrical cords to tie his hands and left him with head and arm injuries at his Bronx home on Wickham Avenue near Waring Avenue.

Officers said they received a call to 911 regarding an ongoing robbery at the location just after noon on Tuesday. When they arrived, Rappa was already numb.

While the events leading up to the violent beating of the 91-year-old are still unclear, a family friend told NBC New York he tried to intervene but the suspect took off . Police said the suspect was last seen wearing an orange and white construction vest and left in a white van.

Neighbors say the victim was a mainstay of the tight-knit Pelham Gardens neighborhood and lived in the house with his 95-year-old wife for decades. His sudden and violent death left the community in fear.

“It’s very scary because you know this neighborhood is so quiet. The gentleman was so friendly. He talks to everyone. He talks to my kids. It’s a shock,” said Tanya Zondo.

It is not known if the suspect escaped with any of Rappa’s personal effects. No further information was immediately available and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
